Inside Our Miami Studio: A Typical 6-Day Cleaning Cycle

The moment your box lands at our door

Most customers ship their pair and then wonder what actually happens on our end. It's a fair question. You're handing off something you care about to a studio you've never visited. We think you should know exactly what that looks like.

Here's a real week in Miami.

Day 1: Intake and inspection

Your box comes in through our receiving area. We open every package on camera and log the pair immediately into our system. That's when your tracking flips to the first stage.

We open every pair with the same checklist: material, color sensitivity, visible stains, sole condition, sole color, and lining. That checklist takes about five minutes and determines everything that happens next. A white mesh Air Max gets a completely different treatment than a sand suede New Balance 550. Skipping this step is how pairs get damaged. We never skip it.

If anything looks unusual (mold, deep odor, a material we want to flag before touching) we message you through the portal first. No surprises.

Days 2 and 3: The actual cleaning

This is where most of the time goes.

For most pairs, we start dry. On suede and nubuck especially, we never apply any moisture until loose surface dirt is fully brushed away. That single step prevents the majority of streaking we see on pairs that customers tried to clean at home first.

From there, the process branches by material. Mesh and knit get a gentle foam treatment and soft brushing. Leather gets a pH-balanced cleaner and conditioning attention on the finish. Midsoles get detailed by hand with a small brush. Laces are cleaned separately.

Heavily soiled pairs, or anything with set-in staining, go through a second pass on day 3. We don't rush it.

Days 4 and 5: Dry, inspect, finish

Pairs air dry in our studio. No direct heat, no shortcuts. Rushing the dry is how you get water marks and structural warping.

If something didn't come out the way we expected, it goes back to cleaning. If it's clean and we're satisfied, it moves to the finishing stage: laces re-laced, any protective treatment applied if it was part of your order, and a final wipe-down.

We photograph the pair before packing. That photo goes into your order record.

Day 6: Pack and ship back

We pack carefully. Your pair goes back out with the prepaid return label, and your tracking updates to reflect it. Most customers see their pair back within two-four days of the ship notification, depending on where you are in the continental US.

Six days sounds like a lot. It isn't, when you think about what's actually happening: two inspection passes, material-specific cleaning, proper dry time, and a final quality check. That's the professional shoe cleaning process.
